Clive Smerdon (Honorary)

What I Do: Window & door installation

Bio Clive has been in the window & door business for over 30 years, and is the owner of The Window Warehouse.

Married with 3 children and living in Shoeburyness.
Enjoys Red Wine, Chocolate, & riding my bike not necessarily in that order!

For fun, friendship and the opportunity to contribute to local community join Southend Round Table.

Damon Langlois

What I Do: Printing

Damon Langlois has been in the print industry for over 24 years and is the Managing Director and Owner of Green Light Print Solutions Ltd.

Self confessed muso and avid Iron Maiden fan.

Likes watching sports, going skiing and playing guitar (albeit badly).

He lives in Shoeburyness with his wife and two kids.

And can’t thank his friends enough that first got him involved with Southend Round Table 106. He believes that if you want a great time and have some great memories too whilst supporting your local community, then this is the place for you.

Eddie Young

What I Do: Cheap Flooring

Eddie Young runs Youngs Flooring, a successful domestic and commercial flooring company which operates across the whole of the UK. As an ex Royal Marine Commando Eddie is keen on all outdoor pursuits and enjoys diving, climbing and Skiiing.

He also very much believes in being able to give back to the community and has found great satisfaction being part of a team that whilst having fun and sharing memorable times manages to puts that as their ultimate goal.

What I Do: Bingo wings

Gary Price

What I Do: Part Owner of a busy Garden Centre

Gary has been in the horticultural business for over 25 years. The earlier part of his career was mainly wholesaling plants and cut flowers, now he has resided with his family at a busy Garden Centre in Wakering.
Although working at the garden centre he has diverted a little into the swimming pool trade. He now mainly concentrates on chemical advice for customer’s swimming pool and problem solving.

He is the lead singer to a band called Fisticuffs, a band that was produced for a Round Table ladies night interruption, and has successfully carried on to this day, playing at many venues and birthday celebrations.
Although the main music played in his band is Punk/New Wave. He likes mainly soul music and is also a big fan of Level 42.

Gary loves his sports which include being a handy golfer (a few years ago now), loves watching football, particularly watching his 14 year son play at weekends. Air rifle shooting, Carp fishing and even flying remote control helicopters.

He lives in Great Wakering and has a beautiful wife and 3 fantastic children, without his work and all his hobbies they are his life.

Round table has played a huge part in Gary’s life. He has served 10 years now and each one has been truly wonderful.

Not only has he made such good friends (for life) he has put some good back into the local community, and has been part of an on-going team that has raised many thousands of pounds for charity.

Graham Wright

What I Do: Cakes and Cars

Graham has been a baker since leaving school and is managing director of Leigh cakes. He is also managing director of Stardust cars and operates a small fleet of limousines.

He lives in great wakering with his wife Vicky and has two children Adam 12 and Abigail 13. Likes and collects American classic cars self confessed workaholic and family life.

Graham says that Round Table is the best thing he ever joined and the more you put in the more you get out

Jerry Miller

What I Do: Dodgy Motors

Jerry Miller has been in the motor industry for over 18 years and can get his hands on all sorts of cars.Joined Southend 106 Round Table 7 years ago.

Married with 2 children, George and Lucy. Apart from he’s passion for watching he’s son play football for Catholic United every week he is a HUGE Arsenal fan.

Enjoys making the effort with exercise! Running and cycling. And of course the socialising after in a hot tub with a light refreshment!

Mark House

What I Do: Banking

Mark House has worked in a wide variety of roles in the finance industry for over 23 years, and is currently working for Coutts. Mark is interested in making the most of what you have, and is a qualified coach and hypnotherapist.

In his spare time, Mark enjoys listening to music, is a voracious reader, plays the drums,and watches sports, particularly West Ham, where he is a season ticket holder.

Mark lives in Thorpe Bay with his wife, Vikki who is a professional photographer, and young children, Joseph and Katy.

Mat Osborne

What I Do: Project Management

Mat is a freelance project manager by trade working for his own limited company, primarily working for clients within the financial services industry.

He is (happily) married with two children, living in South Woodham Ferrers. When not working, he likes nothing more to be with and around his family, supporting them in their various pursuits. He also enjoys video editing and music editing / production.

Mat has been involved with Round Table for many years and during this time has been involved in more projects / events (both local and Nationally) than he cares to remember! Furthermore, his children have grown up with Table, and he enjoys it even more now they want to get involved, roll up their sleeves and be part of it.

Nick Richards

What I Do: Tree Felling

Nick Richards is one of our younger members at 23 years old. He is easy to get on with, but can be a bit of a handful sometimes. Adn as he say who isn’t!

He works at Tree Fella and has done since November 2007. Starting as a groundsman and working his way to a 2nd climber currently. However he is only one ticket away from being a qualified Tree Surgeon.

Nick is a self confessed workaholic who is always willing to help other people the best I can.

Paul Marsh

What I Do: Insurance Broking

Paul has been in the insurance broking business for over 25 years looking after construction and renewable energy client. Paul currently work in London for Tysers.

Paul is an accomplished darts player and represents his county (Essex) in the national inter county league (finishing ranked sixth in the country last year). Paul narrowly missed out on qualification for the world championship and British Masters this year and has fingers crossed for the forthcoming season where he would very much like to get on the telly!

He lives in Shoeburyness with his wife and two kids.

This is Paul’s last year in Table, over the last 13 years he has held many positions including Area Chairman and National Conference Convenor – and is often described as past….everything. He is known to be fond of the sound of his own voice at business meetings – you have been warned.

Pete Rushman (King Kountalot)

What I Do: Money Laundering

Pete has been working in the “counting” industry ever since leaving school in 1985!

After, being an employed for many years he decided, about 8 years ago, to take the plunge and go and work for himself!

He loves his job too much he’s told ( “well, that’s not really true” he says) -it just fits in with his Life Style.

He is married to Jo, has two children and has recently moved to North Shoebury.

He joined Round table in 2006 and has held various roles! His toughest one so far he says was being Fireworks Chairman for 2010! it was a challenge for him, but it was also the most rewarding role he has done in his life.

He says when he joined Table, “I didn’t really know what I was letting myself in for? but after just a few weeks, felt like he had known people for years!”

And he now says “I’m just so glad I did join as I have had so much good fun and good times, doing things I never dreamed I would do”, “There all really a great bunch of guys and now my mates for life”

Robin Gale

What I Do: Tractors

Steve Castle (President)

What I Do: Chartered Certified Accountant and part time rock star

Steve joined Round Table in the year 2000 as something to do while waiting for the Millennium Bug to hit the computers of the world and destroy society as we knew it. The Bug never hit but by the time he had realised, he had been appointed Treasurer to Southend Round Table and thus had responsibilities. This was a role he was to take on numerous occasions for the next 10 years until finally being appointed chairman of Round Table.

Steve has now left the Round Table but now holds the converted role of President.

Steve became a part time rock star within his first two years of being a member of Round Table along with other members of the organisation. Steve can now regularly be found behind his beloved Roland X8, which he traded up from the Bontempi XJ36, at various pubs in the area entertaining the masses.

Stuart Mason

What I Do: Property Development and Refurbishment

Stuart Mason is Director of G.S. Mason Building and Electrical Contractors. Originally an Electrical Contracting Company for 20 years, with property development as a side-line. Stuart has now stopped the electrical side altogether and now concentrates solely on Property Development and Refurbishment.
