Raising money for Colorectal Cancer Research
The Red Trouser Day Ramble on Saturday 22nd October at 2pm, is an enjoyable and healthy way to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and at the same time have fun with friends (and strangers) walking the five and a half miles from the Peter Boat in Old Leigh to Shoebury Common, just by Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
The route has many interesting sights, not the least being the world famous pier and ‘Golden Mile’ . Depending on the weather and with the tide coming in, you should see quite a number of different birds. From geese to gulls, and many others besides.
The founder of the Red Trouser Day - Paul Finch, a fairly new survivor of bowel cancer, wanted to help the people who helped him survive, to continue the fight against this unpleasant disease by funding research at the Royal Marsden Hospital. Paul will be starting the walk and will also be walking the whole route.
It is hoped everyone will wear red trousers or shorts (ask Paul why red trousers) it will mark the first of what we all hope will be repeated for years to come.
